About This Role

This part-time position will support the worship life of Blacksburg United Methodist Church by delivering exceptional audio-visual experiences. A team player with excellent communication skills and a passion for excellence is ideal for this role.


What You'll Do

This role represents Blacksburg UMC and embodies its mission and values through professional conduct and warm hospitality.

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and represent the church with integrity.
  • Ensure a confidential and respectful environment, consulting with pastoral staff when necessary.

This role also encompasses various aspects of audio-visual production in worship services, including:

  • Develop video content for worship, such as sermon illustrations, testimonials, and ministry stories.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of audio and video equipment during services.
  • Lead and manage the AV Ministry Team, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Worship Arts to enhance worship experiences.
  • Manage the technical aspects of film production, including cameras, sound, lighting, and design.
  • Oversee the audio desk and video desk during worship services.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by the church leadership.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Be a person of faith practicing Christian principles.
  • Have college level studies in communications technology, marketing, film, music industry or related field or equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, leadership, and management skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to make sound decisions and take independent action.
  • Have skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and related software including Microsoft 365 Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, and Google Docs.
  • Knowledge of ProPresenter, OBS Studio, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
