Our Audio Technology team drives the design and integration of advanced audio features across Apple product lines. You'll often find us at the intersection of computational algorithms and physical acoustic systems. Our focus is active noise cancellation, adaptive EQ, spatial audio, and more. Description
Within Audio Technology, our Noise Control group is passionate about developing robust control systems for acoustic environments -- primarily with our AirPods line. In this role you will drive system design, modeling, and tuning of audio processing features in Apple products, specifically focusing on active noise cancellation. You will have an opportunity to work on development and analysis of both hardware and software components using a combination of acoustic and DSP skills.
As part of our team, you will also work on improving the audio systems architecture for future Apple products.
Preferred Qualifications
Digital signal processing (DSP), including adaptive filtering, active noise cancellation and optimization of performance of these algorithms in devices
Speaker control and protection algorithms, including design, implementation and validation of real-time control systems for enhancing speaker performance
Algorithm prototyping in simulation software such as MATLAB and real-time hardware platforms
Acoustic prototyping including experimentation in anechoic chambers and audio/acoustic measurement tools
Listening skills for diagnosing problems in product sound quality
Minimum Qualifications
Most of our engineers have advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field, but if you’ve followed a different path to expertise in Audio Engineering, we still want to hear from you.
5+ years relevant product development experience

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
