Job description

SeaLandAire Technologies is a defense contractor in Jackson, Michigan. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our growing team!
We provide engineering, build, and field testing for prototypes and products used for data collection applications in difficult environments. These products help our customers collect information crucial to our country's security.
The position involves developing concepts into prototypes in a rapid development cycle. Each engineer is part of a project team through the entire cycle, from concept to field testing of prototypes. The Electrical Engineer is a core part of the team responsible for circuit design, firmware, and system integration.
Project teams include electrical, mechanical, and acoustic engineers as well as support staff. The teams work together to create innovative concepts and reliable implementations that focus on customer requirements. Electrical Engineers contribute important sensing, control, signal processing, and communication functions to each project. The teams also interface with the customer and implementing their feedback is essential to our mutual success.
Essential Functions*
  • Work in project teams to solve technical problems with hardware/firmware design solutions
  • Take hardware solutions from concept to prototype
  • Write embedded C code, with a focus on code reliability and clarity
  • Control and document development with a version control system
  • Work within existing design constructs when updating/optimizing existing designs
  • Test and verify hardware/firmware through rigorous design verification testing and field testing

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have department or company supervisory responsibilities. However, supervision within projects may be expected and could include planning, organizing, assigning, and overseeing the technical work of other engineers and technicians while communicating regularly with the Project Managers / Project Engineers.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is an on-site, full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Hours are somewhat flexible, and occasional extra hours may be required. This is a salaried, exempt position, however, if you are required to work 45 or more hours in a week, you will be compensated for all hours worked past 40 at your equivalent hourly rate.
Travel
Some travel is expected for field testing, vendor selections, and customer interface.
Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering is required. Experience is desired, but recent graduates will be considered.
Requirements
  • Since a majority of SeaLandAire's business is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, applicants must be a "U.S. Person" (U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident).
  • A background check will be conducted for employment purposes.
  • A U.S. government security clearance is not required but is very helpful. Employees may be required to obtain a security clearance and SeaLandAire will sponsor the process.
