Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Audio Visual Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio visual systems in various environments. This role requires both technical expertise and strong problem-solving abilities to ensure optimal AV system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain audio visual equipment including projectors, displays, sound systems, control systems, and related hardware
  • Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on AV equipment
  • Program and configure AV control systems and user interfaces
  • Conduct system testing and quality assurance checks
  • Provide technical support and training to end users
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and service records
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and team members to ensure successful project completion
  • Stay current with emerging AV technologies and industry best practices

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in audio visual technology or related field
  • Strong understanding of AV signal flow, audio/video formats, and system integration
  • Proficiency with AV equipment from major manufacturers (Crestron, Extron, AMX, etc.)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system diagrams
  • Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cable pulling and installation (structured cabling, AV cables, conduit work)
  • Q-SYS certification and hands-on experience with Q-SYS audio platform
  • Experience with network infrastructure and IP-based AV systems
  • Knowledge of control system programming (Crestron, AMX, Extron)
  • Familiarity with video conferencing systems and unified communications
  • AVIXA CTS certification or willingness to obtain
  • Experience with project management and client relations

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders and lifts
  • Ability to work in various environments including construction sites, offices, and educational facilities
  • Manual dexterity for precise equipment handling and cable termination
