Athletic Field Supervisor - Turf Rentals, Adult Softball & Baseball
Position Employment Type: Seasonal - General season is March through November. Hiring for the Fall Season.
Minimum Age Requirement: 18 years old, with high school diploma or equivalent
Pay Range: $16.00 - $17.00/hr. depending on experience
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Athletics Program Manager at the MMAC, the Athletics division is looking for Seasonal Field Supervisors to provide supervision and support for various athletic programs to include participants/players, coaches, officials, and spectators. This position will serve as the primary source of information for on-site communication with all of the parties previously listed while facilitating daily activities, promoting safety, and providing quality customer service. Additionally, responsible for field prep and clean-up before and after the games at various locations throughout the Park District. Ideally looking for staff who are dependable and available to work evenings and weekends up to 20 hours per week. If you enjoy sports, working outdoors, are organized, and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty, then this is the job for you! Work with a great team, support the community, and have some FUN!
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
  • Supervise patrons' participation in recreational programs and activities to ensure smooth and safe play.
  • Enforce all facility rules, including roster checks and checking residency when appropriate.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills with attention to detail to perform various duties including completing reports, handling money, coordinating with officials, etc.
  • Maintain control of activity and site and complete all necessary forms and paperwork related to activity.
  • Perform facility/field set up and clean up as necessary while following applicable safety protocols.
  • Conduct field/facility inspections, assist with routine maintenance and trash collection to ensure grounds and areas are clean and safe and report safety hazards and/or equipment repair while being responsible for district equipment.
  • Confidence in problem solving and conflict resolution to address disagreements and respond effectively to difficult and/or emergency situations.
  • Accomplish work assignments with limited supervision, maintaining open communication with supervisory staff and providing quality customer service.

Additional duties include performing all other duties as directed by the Program Manager-Athletics and/or League Coordinator and attending required staff meetings and training as assigned. This is an at-will position.
Hours: Tuesday - Friday evenings from 5:00 - 11:00 PM and Sundays between 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
Qualifications and Training Expectations:
  • Knowledge and interest in various athletic activities is highly desired.
  • Attention to detail and diligence in performing supervision and other various tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while following directions and safety protocols.
  • Problem-solving skills with a strong sense of safety and the capacity to act calmly and effectively under pressure or in emergency situations.
  • Good physical condition, ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and able to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Adequate sight including close, distance and peripheral vision to read manuals, operate and interpret equipment readings, and drive.
  • Adequate hearing to distinguish between various speech and equipment function, respond to alarms, follow directions, etc.
  • Regular exposure to various weather conditions including high heat and humidity, cold, wind, rain and snow.
  • Capacity to safely operate various maintenance and other equipment.
  • Have or become CPR, First Aid and AED certified within 30 days of employment and complete other required trainings.
  • A valid IL Driver's License with the ability to safely operate vehicles and follow rules of the road. Familiarity with the Lombard Park District and neighboring areas is a plus.
