Augustine Consulting, Inc. is a Woman-Owned Small Business professional services provider of engineering and technical services to the United States Government. We seek an experienced Model-Based Systems Engineer to serve as part of ACI's Government Programs Team supporting CPE ISW for IEW&S HQs SETA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

A Models-Based Systems Engineer at ACI is responsible for focusing on leveraging model-based systems engineering tools and practices to enable efficient planning, integration, and validation of tactical applications supporting situational awareness platforms. A successful Model-Based Systems Engineer at ACI will:
  • Develop and maintain SysML/UML-based models to support system architecture, behavior, interface definitions, and requirements traceability for ATAK plugins and core functionality.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into functional models that inform software development and integration plans.
  • Support system decomposition and definition of component-level interactions across ATAK plugins, core services, and TAK Server interfaces.
  • Collaborate with software developers, integration engineers, and program stakeholders to ensure alignment between modeled architecture and software implementation.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and design reviews as a representative of the systems engineering team.
  • Support verification and validation activities by aligning test cases with modeled requirements and scenarios.
  • Contribute to documentation deliverables, including interface control documents (ICDs), system design documents (SDDs), and modeling standards.
  • Design and implement network solutions, including LAN/WAN/VPN architectures and secure topologies.
  • Troubleshoot complex system and network issues, utilizing both hands-on diagnostics and automated tools.
  • Apply network security best practices to protect systems and data from internal and external threats.
  • Write scripts for automation and system management using Python and PowerShell.
  • Collaborate on multidisciplinary R&D projects, integrating scientific and engineering approaches.
  • Maintain technical documentation including system diagrams, configuration guides, and SOPs.

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Top Secret w/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and eight (8) years of experience, or
  • Master's degree in a related field and five years of experience
  • Solid understanding of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Hands-on experience with network operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
  • Proficiency with network design and configuration tools.
  • Proficiency with modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or Enterprise Architect.
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, RDS, and associated cloud architecture.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Prior experience with TAK plugin development or TAK Server integration.
  • Knowledge of DoD software acquisition lifecycle and digital engineering policy (e.g., DoDI 5000.97).
  • INCOSE ASEP or CSEP certification.
  • Familiarity with geospatial formats (GeoPackage, KML) and tactical messaging standards (Cursor-on-Target).
  • Experience supporting proposal writing or technical volume input for federal contracts is a plus.
  • Experience in research, systems engineering, or IT infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with military software and System of System testing.
  • Experience in planning and operating military tactical networking, including battle command platforms and transport layers.
