Job description

Quality Compliance Manager

The Quality Compliance Manager is responsible for implementing and executing the quality assurance program for At Home to improve product quality and performance, and to increase consumer satisfaction when purchasing all At Home products. This position reports to the Director of Quality Assurance. This position will be responsible for the development of and handling the daily management and documentation of product performance, compliance documentation and overall product quality. The person in this role will have input on the development and implementation of product specifications and performance across multiple product lines, will work together with Quality Compliance team on third-party testing validation and execution of At Home's quality and performance standards, as well as factory management.

Essential Functions

  • Manage quality assurance system to ensure At Home products meet or exceed expectations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, manufacturing, legal) to integrate compliance requirements into product development processes and product lifecycle management.
  • Ability to conduct regulatory assessments and gap analyses to identify compliance risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee product testing and certification processes, including coordination with third-party testing laboratories, product partners and factories.
  • Develop and maintain minimum quality and performance specification for various product categories to ensure conformance to and consistency of requirements.
  • Develop and oversee quality reporting that supports corporate quality improvement strategies for factories and products.
  • Maintain compliance documentation, including technical files, test reports, certificates of conformity, and regulatory submissions.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends to stay informed of changes that may impact product compliance requirements.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and support to internal stakeholders, including training on compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor supplier performance and alert Merchandising team of any non-compliance, work with Quality Compliance team to develop corrective action plans and report findings via established channels
  • Help develop and utilize vendor scorecards to track key vendor and 3rd party service provider performance metrics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading product quality or regulatory affairs, product compliance, or a related field within the consumer products industry.
  • Some International Travel Required.
  • Experience implementing and improving product quality processes and standards with measurable results in a factory environment.
  • In depth knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements for children's products and toys such as CPSIA, ASTM F963, California Proposition 65, NIST/UPLR packaging and labeling requirements, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for food contact/cosmetics/medical device registration and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • Knowledge of product safety standards including ASTM requirements for furniture, candles and candle holders, and textile products.
  • Experience with consumer goods performance testing and industry standards organizations such as ASTM International, American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
  • Experience working with international vendors preferred
  • Possesses Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Is self-motivated and works well under pressure
  • Thrives in challenging and rapidly changing environments
  • Able to work in a hybrid setting: 2 days remote, 3 days in office
