POSITION VACANCY
FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2026-2027

POSITION:                                              Curriculum and Instructional Coach

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold Kentucky certification or be eligible for certification for consultant assignment:
    • Master's degree or non-degree fifth-year program
    • Certification in the appropriate subject field or service
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional teaching experience at the appropriate level
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a successful leader in instruction, curriculum, and assessment (e.g., department chair, district-level committee work, KTIP resource teacher, SBDM member, etc.)
  • Basic technological / computer skills
  • Expertise in effective teaching strategies.

SUPERVISES:  Not Applicable

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation activities of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program.
  • Assists with curriculum alignment and mapping.
  • Engages staff in intensive data analysis and results planning.
  • Assists staff with implementation of academic standards.
  • Continually provides professional development to teachers in their classrooms, during team planning, and after school.
  • Works with teachers on skills needed to be successful on rigorous assessments.
  • Works collaboratively with other educators on initiatives for growth areas in individual schools.
  • Coaches teachers by modeling a variety of research-based instructional strategies.
  • Assists in program evaluation of position effectiveness.
  • Facilitates collaborative team meetings to assist teachers in developing daily learning outcomes and assessments for learning.
  • Works collaboratively with other professionals in the school and district.
  • Leads planning initiatives.
  • Supports Program Review work, as appropriate.
  • Provides school improvement support to close achievement gaps.                                                  
  • Partners with other instructional specialists to help build teacher and team capacity in developing engaging instruction and monitoring student's progress.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
  • Analyzes assessment data in order to focus "response to intervention" attention on students' critical academic needs.                                                                                                                                                                                          
  • Observes classrooms and collaborates with teachers to improve their instructional strategies and behavior management techniques, as well as encourage the fostering of positive teacher-student relationships.                                                                                                                        
  • Help to develop "assessment for learning" and "assessment of learning" strategies.                                                                                                    
  • Help to provide focus on the priority needs of resources and the allocation of those resources.                                                                              
  • Identify and provide professional development on a continuous basis.
  • Participate in appropriate district-wide activities, initiatives, and systematic instructional support meetings.
  • Support the implementation of the KY Framework for Teaching and the Professional Growth and Effectiveness System (PGES).

JOB GOAL:

  • Assists schools in strengthening instructional programs through a strategically planned, standards-based approach with a focus on narrowing the achievement gaps.
  • This position will provide leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment and planning.

 CONTRACT: 199 days                                                     

 SALARY: Based on rank and experience
