Job description

SWJ Technology specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. We are currently seeking an IT Specialist for a client in the automotive industry, specializing in car manufacturing. This role is a contractor position based in Meadville, PA that requires onsite presence. PURPOSE:
This role is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the organization's information technology infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, security, and efficiency of hardware, software, networks, and systems while providing technical support and training to end users. The IT Specialist also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives by developing strategies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency, workflow, and user satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assess and evaluate IT infrastructure regularly to ensure systems meet current and future business requirements.
  • Manage the daily operations of the IT function and provide ongoing technical support to end users.
  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Administer and support operating systems, servers, networks, and related IT infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain multifunction printer devices, including consumables such as toner, ink, and waste cartridges.
  • Coordinate IT support activities for both on-site and remote employees, as well as external vendors and contractors.
  • Perform troubleshooting, upgrades, asset management, website updates, data management, and network administration.
  • Configure, monitor, test, and maintain server backup systems to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Support and manage hardware and network environments across multiple geographically dispersed locations.
  • Develop and implement IT procedures and best practices to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and recommend technology upgrades, process improvements, and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, systems, configurations, and support activities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational safety and security procedures.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials appropriately.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 3+ years of related IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure experience
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with system administration, operating systems, and network support.
  • Knowledge of server management, backup solutions, and disaster recovery practices.
  • Experience with database, development, and internet-based software applications.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices

FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
  • Location: Meadville, PA
  • Schedule: Day shift, 40h/w, weekend as required
  • Overtime: as required
  • Duration: 6 months
