The Transit and Rail Practice is seeking a Technical Editor, located Remotely within the United States.

Join a team delivering critical transit and infrastructure projects by ensuring the quality, consistency, and professionalism of project documentation. In this role, you will support the review, editing, formatting, and production of technical reports and other project deliverables, working closely with engineers, project managers, and technical staff. You will help maintain document quality across all stages of development, ensuring deliverables are accurate, well-organized, visually consistent, and aligned with internal standards and client expectations. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, advanced document production skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative project environment.

What You'll DoKey Responsibilities:
  • Edit, format, and review technical reports, correspondence, and project deliverables for clarity, consistency, grammar, and adherence to formatting standards 
  • Perform comprehensive quality control reviews across documents ranging from short memos to large, multi-section reports 
  • Apply and maintain consistent document formatting, including advanced use of Microsoft Word for large and complex files 
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and technical staff to ensure documents are accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements 
  • Support document production efforts, including compiling content, managing version control, and meeting deadlines 
  • Identify and recommend improvements to document organization, readability, and overall quality 
  • Ensure deliverables meet internal standards and client expectations for professional, polished outputs 
What You BringRequired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience 
  • Experience in technical writing, editing, or document production 
  • Strong working knowledge of grammar, style, formatting, and document control practices 
  • Experience preparing, editing, and finalizing technical documents using Microsoft Office tools 
  • Ability to collaborate with technical staff and review content for clarity, accuracy, and completeness
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in technical editing, document production, or related work 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including formatting and managing large or complex documents 
  • Experience reviewing long-form technical reports and ensuring consistency across sections and contributors 
  • Familiarity with project management terminology such as scope, schedule, risk, change management, and budget concepts 
  • Experience supporting infrastructure, engineering, transit, or related project documentation 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain focus across high-volume or complex document sets
