Job description

Position Summary
This position is responsible for developing design documentation for Sterile Processing Department (SPD) reprocessing equipment used in hospitals worldwide. These sophisticated systems sterilize or provide high-level disinfection for a wide range of medical instruments, helping ensure physicians can safely perform surgeries and other critical medical procedures. This role offers the opportunity to join a highly collaborative team that plays a vital role in the design and development of life-saving healthcare technology.
The Senior Designer is responsible for product design, detailed drafting, and design control activities using CREO (or comparable CAD software) and Windchill PLM. The role supports the development of mechanical and electromechanical products by creating and maintaining design documentation, product specifications, and assisting in the resolution of design challenges. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Senior Designer will support new product development initiatives while ensuring designs meet project objectives, quality standards, and company requirements.
This position reports to, and is based in, our Mentor, Ohio headquarters.
What You'll Do as a Senior Designer
  • Reliably produces high quality designs and documentation that are first time right.
  • Develops complex product designs and associated engineering documentation with limited guidance from engineers of lead designers.
  • Solves problems independently, utilizing problem solving techniques, referencing historical designs, referencing standards and other resources.
  • Effectively utilizes design tools (CREO Preferred) within Product Lifecycle Management systems (Windchill Preferred) to control and release designs.
  • Provides accurate effort estimates and then executes design efforts on-time.
  • Leads communication with vendors, sourcing, manufacturing, service and other functions to realize designs.
  • Initiates ECNs to implement simple to moderately complex design changes, following the corporate change process, while works with appropriate subject matter owners.
  • Experience with Windchill PLM
  • Is able to work cross-functionally with minimal oversight

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
  • Technical Associate's degree, drafting certification, or vocational training.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience required.
  • Proficiency with advanced functions of technical software design packages (CREO, AutoCAD, EPlan).
  • Proficient in advanced/complex technical design documentation (drafting, schematics, layouts, symbols)
  • Expert in product lifecycle management through release and change management documentation.
  • Experienced designing in multiple manufacturing methods within the technical function (machining, injection molding, cable harnesses, etc.)
  • Hand-on aptitude within the technical area of expertise (oscilloscopes, calipers, hand tools, multimeters).
  • Proficient in Microsoft products; Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Significant Experience working with Creo and/or Windchill PLM

Pay range for this opportunity is $57,750.00 - $77,000.00. This position is also eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
