Senior Associate IS Business Systems Analyst

Duties: Amgen Inc.; Senior Associate IS Business Systems Analyst - R-248053; Thousand Oaks, CA; Accountable for day-to-day tactical delivery of feature improvements for our data and analytics portfolio; Engage with internal partners to analyze business needs, elicit and refine requirements, and recommend technical designs and solutions; Coordinate vendors and contractors, and guide as necessary to ensure delivery of commitments; Build expertise in the broad set of data-related technologies, including Data Storage, Cloud Compute Highly Performant Data Warehouses, Data Engineering, Analytics, Orchestration, Request Management, and Reporting / Data Visualization Tools; Contribute towards continuous efficiency improvements and refine a backlog of requirements and user stories; Work closely in a client-facing role with a team of data scientists, data engineers, and analysts to identify business problems and design/deliver solutions; and Handle end-to-end requirements for development work, and management of backlog including tracking dependencies, risks, and decisions. May telecommute.


Requirements: Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field & 2 years of experience in the job offered or in Consultant - related occupation. The position also requires 2 years in the following:

Experience in Tableau and writing complex Structured Query language (SQL) queries for performance tuning, indexing, and runtime reduction across large-scale databases including Databricks, AWS Redshift, and Oracle DB;

Python for data processing, issue diagnostics, production support and data quality validation across multiple sources;

Investigate and resolve data issues in Extract Transform and load (ETL) frameworks and distributed data pipelines though root cause analysis and end-to-end data flow tracing;

Working in Agile delivery environments, managing sprint work items, and collaborating through tools JIRA, Confluence, and Git Version control;

Experience analyzing business processes and system dependencies, identifying technology enablers, and designing process improvement models to enhance data flow and reporting efficiency; and

Business requirement gathering, elicitation, analysis, translating business needs into technical requirements, and recommending data driven solutions.
