The Senior Platform Engineer designs, builds, and maintains robust technology platforms that empower software development teams to deliver applications efficiently, securely, and at scale. This role serves as a critical link between development and operations, championing DevOps principles to drive automation, productivity, and seamless collaboration. Senior Platform Engineers architect self-service systems, streamline deployment pipelines, and abstract infrastructure complexity, enabling developers to focus on innovation. By integrating security, reliability, and compliance into every aspect of platform design, they ensure the organization's technology foundation is resilient, scalable, and future-ready. Their work accelerates development cycles, enhances developer experience, and supports continuous improvement across the engineering organization. Responsibilities

  • Manage software platforms supporting application development and deployment.
  • Lead design and implementation of advanced platform features and architecture.
  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automation frameworks to support rapid and reliable deployment of applications and services.
  • Provision and manage cloud infrastructure resources, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Create and maintain self-service tools for development teams.
  • Integrate security protocols and compliance checks into platform architecture and automated workflows.
  • Collaborate with software developers, product, and security engineers to deliver infrastructure features that improve reliability, efficiency, and security.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to understand their needs and deliver platform features that accelerate development and deployment cycles.
  • Maintain platform documentation, onboarding guides, and best practices to support developer adoption and operational excellence.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to platform infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain observability solutions for platform reliability and incident response.
  • Ensure platform scalability and resilience through capacity planning and performance optimization.
  • Manage platform security, including secrets management and compliance.
  • Evaluate and integrate new tools, technologies, and cloud services.
  • Lead platform incident management, root cause analysis, and postmortem processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members on platform engineering principles, automation, and DevOps practices.
  • Stay current with new technologies and platform development techniques to continuously improve the platform's capabilities.
  • Plan upgrades, migrations and new implementations for traditional and SaaS environments
  • Develop, test, troubleshoot, and document new and enhanced systems, including SaaS applications and their interoperability with existing infrastructure.
  • Monitor SaaS platform usage, performance, and security; implement controls for data protection, access management, and regulatory compliance.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • Three or more years of experience in systems engineering is required, with exposure to SaaS platforms preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge and skills in infrastructure/systems lifecycle methodology, scripting, and automation for both on-premises and SaaS environments.
  • Experience managing SaaS platforms, including configuration, integration, monitoring, and security.
  • Knowledge of interface standards, interoperability, and common testing tools and methods.
  • Familiarity with SaaS vendor management, licensing, and compliance requirements.
  • Professional certifications and advanced degrees in related fields are a plus.
  • Experience designing and operating internal developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code solutions.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD systems, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of platform reliability, scalability, and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog).
  • Experience collaborating with software engineering teams to deliver platform features and support developer workflows.
  • Solid foundation in infrastructure or DevOps, with hands-on experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and system administration.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-ownership, fast-paced environment and drive initiatives from concept to completion.

Education and Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
