Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server DBA with 8+ years of hands-on database administration experience, including 5+ years of recent, in-depth work in SQL Server database administration. This role focuses on optimizing performance, availability, and security across our SQL Server systems. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is required.
Core Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server across Dev, UAT, and PROD environments (Windows Server and cloud-hosted) across multiple security fabrics
• Own SQL Server installation, configuration, backups/restores, performance tuning, and security
• Provide day-to-day operational support, including monitoring, maintenance jobs, troubleshooting, and vulnerability remediation
• Design, implement, and support High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Windows Server Failover Clustering)
• Perform performance optimization, including T-SQL tuning, index management, and issue resolution
• Support SSRS, SSAS, Power BI Report Server, and related SQL Server components
• Proactively maintain SQL Server environments for performance, security, and reliability
• Configure and manage HA/DR solutions (e.g., Always On AG, failover technologies)
• Perform database tuning and query optimization
• Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies
• Enforce database security policies, ensuring STIG compliance and audit readiness
• Implement and enforce database security controls, including TDE and compliance requirements
• Resolve complex issues (e.g., performance bottlenecks, data corruption, connectivity)
• Maintain documentation for configurations, standards, and procedures
• Collaborate with developers on schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patching, and migrations
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support
• Install and support Oracle databases
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 9 years of DBA experience, with 5+ years in SQL Server database administration
• Deep understanding of SQL Server architecture and internal processes
• Expertise in encryption (TDE, SSL) and Windows Server Failover Clustering
• Proven experience with HA/DR solutions (Always On AG, DAG)
• Advanced T-SQL skills for query optimization and troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure SQL, Amazon RDS)
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure DBA Associate or Data Management & Analytics
