Front-End (Angular)
About the role
As a Front-End Modernization Architect, you will make an impact by defining and governing the target-state Angular architecture for a large-scale application modernization program spanning approximately 50 applications. You will lead front-end architecture standards, framework governance, component reuse, accessibility, performance, and GenAI-enabled UI development practices while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and client technology standards.
In this role, you will:
  • Own the target-state Angular architecture, including component and module structure, routing, state management, micro-frontend strategy, and shared front-end standards across a portfolio of modernized applications.
  • Define and govern reusable UI architecture patterns, shared component libraries, coding standards, accessibility baselines, performance budgets, and front-end best practices.
  • Lead architectural reviews and provide approval for solution designs, ensuring consistency, scalability, maintainability, and compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Ensure all modernized applications adhere to the client's existing application theme, standard Angular framework, and shared component libraries, minimizing unnecessary customization and promoting reuse.
  • Partner with reverse engineering teams to ensure legacy screen behavior, business rules, validations, navigation patterns, and conditional workflows are accurately represented in modern Angular applications.
  • Collaborate with GenAI and agentic engineering teams to establish architecture patterns, quality standards, and governance for AI-assisted Angular code generation using tools such as Claude.
  • Define review processes, acceptance criteria, validation checkpoints, and testing standards for AI-generated front-end code.
  • Collaborate with Java and API architects to establish front-end and back-end integration standards, including REST API contracts, state management patterns, caching strategies, error handling, and application performance optimization.
  • Own front-end architecture signoff for functional parity, accessibility compliance, performance validation, and modernization readiness across program delivery milestones.
  • Act as a technical escalation point and mentor application-level front-end leads across multiple concurrent modernization workstreams.
Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position located in Hartford, CT, requiring regular attendance at a client office.
The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on the project you're engaged in, as well as business and client requirements. Rest assured; we will always be clear about role expectations.
What you need to have to be considered
  • 10+ years of experience in front-end engineering, software architecture, or UI platform development.
  • 3-5 years of experience defining Angular architecture, design systems, or enterprise front-end frameworks across large-scale, multi-application environments.
  • Strong expertise in Angular, including component architecture, routing, RxJS, state management (NgRx or similar), micro-frontends, and enterprise-scale application development.
  • Advanced proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and modern front-end development practices.
  • Experience building and scaling shared component libraries, design systems, theming frameworks, and reusable UI platforms.
  • Strong experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs and implementing client-side data management, caching, and error-handling strategies.
  • Experience establishing accessibility standards aligned to WCAG guidelines and implementing performance optimization best practices.
  • Experience with automated UI testing frameworks such as Jasmine, Karma, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Experience with modern front-end tooling, including Webpack, Babel, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across UX, back-end, architecture, and delivery teams.
These will help you stand out
  • Experience modernizing legacy user interfaces and mainframe-based applications, including exposure to CICS BMS maps, 3270 screens, IMS, Telon, or other green-screen technologies.
  • Experience participating in large-scale modernization or digital transformation programs involving multiple application workstreams.
  • Working knowledge of GenAI and agentic development platforms, including AI-assisted code generation, architectural guardrails, code-review frameworks, and governance practices.
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, AWS Developer - Associate, Angular certifications, or related cloud and front-end certifications.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field.
