Job description

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is hiring an Associate Software Engineer I to join our Provider Applications team. In this fully-remote role, you'll work alongside both tenured engineers and earlier career peers to build and maintain full stack applications in .NET. Academic or project-based exposure to (or interest in) working with healthcare data is a plus.

Ideal candidates for this role will bring:

  • Experience coding in C#, .NET, ASP.NET MVC, Razor Template, Object Oriented Programming

  • Familiarity with SQL and SOLID principles

  • Front-end development experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

  • Excitement around leveraging approved AI tools for efficiency and innovation

  • Although this is a fully-remote opportunity, final interviews at our Chattanooga, TN headquarters will be required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to design, develop, modify, or integrate information systems
  • Devises or modifies application systems and procedures to optimize functional requirements including capacity, operating time, response time, and form of desired results.
  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents programs, subroutines, and scripts.
  • Maintains technical skill set for software languages, databases, platforms, operating systems, utilities and networks needed to support work assignments.
  • Responds to system failures and performance events by taking appropriate measures to reduce system downtime and eliminate recurrence of problems.
  • May conduct presentations to provide end users with knowledge to maximize their use of developed systems.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent work experience required. Equivalent years of experience are determined as one year of technical experience for every year of college requested.
