Job description

My client, a Chattanooga-based equipment leasing and finance company, is looking for a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a small, mixed-stack engineering team (2 .NET developers and 1 Salesforce architect). In this role, you'll spend most of your time on people leadership — coaching, delivery, and stakeholder alignment — with about a quarter of your time on architecture and technical direction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers (2 .NET developers, 1 Salesforce architect), providing technical guidance, coaching, and professional development.
  • Guide responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools (coding, documentation, testing, workflow automation), ensuring outputs are reviewed and validated.
  • Manage resource allocation, workload balancing, and delivery timelines across mixed .NET/Salesforce workstreams.
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical direction on team projects (roughly 25% of the role).
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance through code reviews and technical leadership.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Manage project priorities, risks, issues, and escalations, ensuring timely resolution and delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-training across the .NET and Salesforce sides of the team.
  • Serve as liaison with external vendors and technology partners on select projects.
  • Communicate technical concepts, project updates, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 8+ years of software development experience in the .NET ecosystem
  • Proven experience managing/leading an engineering team
  • Strong experience with C#, .NET, JavaScript, Python, and/or Java.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies, software architecture, and modern engineering best practices.
  • Working knowledge of AI-assisted development concepts (prompt engineering basics, model-assisted coding workflows, responsible AI governance).
  • Nice-to-have (not required): Salesforce, Databricks, Azure Functions, Azure Web Services, Azure SQL Services, responsive web application development.
