What would you do as a GIS Technician

This individual, under the direction of design team members, performs and supports Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data development, analysis, and mapping while providing Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAD) drafting and support as needed. The role will produce accurate, efficient, and high-quality GIS and CAD deliverables for office projects. Applies established procedures for the effective use of GIS and CAD software and assists in maintaining data, systems, and project documentation. Supports project teams through coordination, data management, and production of technical deliverables, with primary emphasis on GIS applications.

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Apply the full range of applications needed to operate GIS and CAD software, with primary emphasis on GIS
  • Develop, manage, and maintain geospatial data and databases for project use
  • Perform GIS analysis and mapping to support engineering and planning projects
  • Produce maps, exhibits, and other GIS deliverables using ArcGIS and related platforms
  • Prepare and edit CAD drawings and design documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
  • Integrate GIS and CAD data to support project workflows and deliverables
  • Execute established procedures for data management, file organization, and project documentation
  • Maintain project files, backups, and documentation and keep project teams informed of status
  • Troubleshoot GIS and CAD software, data, and workflows

Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in GIS, geospatial science, geography, geomatics, engineering technology, or related field
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant GIS experience (required)
  • Proficiency with Arc GIS (required)
  • Experience with CAD drafting and design using AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

This position will involve some travel (using WWC vehicles) and thus this offer is made on the condition that you have a valid driver's license and that you are able to be covered by WWC's vehicle insurance. This offer is also contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug & alcohol test. Please note that this is an offer of at-will employment and does not constitute an employment contract between us.
