The Sales Engineer II collaborates with Channel Sales, Product, Operations, Engineering, Customer Support, and Project Management teams to support and close strategic opportunities sourced through Sparklight's partner community.
You will act as a technical subject-matter expert to both internal stakeholders and external partners, helping simplify complex solutions, identify customer requirements, and position Sparklight competitively in the marketplace.
This role also plays a key part in partner enablement through training, technical presentations, product demonstrations, and development of scalable resources that help partners confidently sell Sparklight solutions.
This Sales Engineer role enables indirect channel partners to successfully position and deliver solutions across a wide range of customer opportunities. Working alongside partners and end customers, this role designs tailored solutions that meet business needs. Success requires strong technical acumen, responsiveness, consultative selling, and the ability to build trusted relationships throughout the channel ecosystem.
This position requires occasional travel to industry events, partner meetings, and annual conferences to support partner engagement, solution enablement, and business development initiatives.
What you will do to contribute to the company's success
  • Provide advanced Sales Engineering support for mid-sized and moderately complex customer accounts.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Customer Support, and Project Management to drive solution adoption and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in partner and customer discovery calls to assess technical requirements and business goals.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle.
  • Create timely and accurate technical configurations and solution designs for proposals and sales quotes.
  • Conduct live and remote product demonstrations, clearly communicating Sparklight's competitive advantages.
  • Monitor product performance and escalate significant technical issues as needed.
  • Identify upsell opportunities based on customer requirements and solution gaps.
  • Train sales representatives on product functionality, enhancements, and new offerings.
  • Represent Sparklight at partner meetings, industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Build strong technical credibility and trusted relationships within the partner community.
  • Support and strengthen strategic partnerships with Technology Services Brokers (TSBs) and other channel organizations.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years in a technical role within the telecom or Information Technology industries.
  • Experience with enterprise architectures and solution design (e.g., LAN/WAN/ WLAN, SD-WAN, MPLS, BGP, DNS, VPN, UCaaS, SIP, trunking, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree or AA in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Possesses the ability to achieve relevant certifications: CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, CMSS (Meraki), MEF 3.0
  • Proficient with MS 365 suite, including Excel, Vizio, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to create technical documentation, solution diagrams, and RFP responses
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including demo delivery and technical workshops
  • Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and propose tailored solutions
  • Creative thinking and adaptability in rapidly changing customer environments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a sales/account team

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting channel, indirect, broker, or partner sales organizations.
  • Familiarity with TSD ecosystems and advisor sales models.
  • Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce or equivalent tools.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, Network+, CMSS, or equivalent
  • Experience presenting at partner events or conducting external technical enablement sessions.
