Our Accounting department seeks a detail-oriented and experienced senior accountant with a strong background in assumed reinsurance accounting. This role is responsible for managing complex accounting processes related to assumed reinsurance treaties, ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting regulatory compliance. This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio. Some departments at our Headquarters offer a hybrid work option that may vary depending on your role and responsibilities.

Starting pay: The pay range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000 annually. Pay is based on the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Be ready to:

  • prepare monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close activities for assumed reinsurance transactions
  • record and reconcile premium, loss, commission and reserve activity for assumed treaties
  • monitor and reconcile receivables and payables, ensuring timely settlements
  • review and validate cedant reporting, identifying discrepancies and following up as needed
  • support actuarial and underwriting teams with data and financial insights
  • assist with financial statement preparation and related disclosures
  • ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements and audit standards
  • partner with internal stakeholders to improve processes and system efficiency
  • support internal and external audits, including providing documentation and explanations

Be equipped with:

  • knowledge commensurate with at least five years of reinsurance accounting experience (preferred)
  • strong understanding of reinsurance concepts
  • advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities
  • strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Bring education and experience from:

  • a bachelor's degree in accounting
  • a CPA or CPA-track (preferred)
  • experience working with reinsurance systems and/or general ledger platforms
