Front Desk Receptionist - Orthopedics - Centerville/Clayton Locations (Full-Time)

The OVMG ORTHOPEDICS- Receptionist is responsible for the courteous and prompt processing of patients in the waiting area. The OVMG ORTHOPEDICS- Receptionist is responsible for answering all incoming telephone calls and directing the calls to the appropriate personnel. The OVMG ORTHOPEDICS - Receptionist reports directly to the Office Manager for Orthopedics Practice and the OVMG Administrator.
This role will split days between the Clayton and Centerville offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Admission and registration of patients.
  • Verifies the accuracy and completeness of patient clinical, demographic and insurance information. Enters corrected patient information into the medical software system at the time of registration.
  • Interacts and assists patients in waiting rooms; rounds to clinical areas as needed.
  • Communicates patient delays to the appropriate individuals.
  • Assists with completion of FMLA and other paperwork.
  • Follows up on referrals to spine practice.
  • Inform the medical assistant/providers of any cancelled and/or altered appointments/procedures as directed.
  • Protects patient confidentiality and dignity by concealing patient information; and keeps discussion of a patient’s procedure(s) to a tone discernable only to the patient/legal guardian.
  • Maintains an orderly and secure system for storing patient medical forms at the front desk.
  • Collects co-pays and other payments from patients.
  • Always maintains a presence at the front desk with the exception of lunches and breaks and when communicating with medical assistants/providers.
  • Retrieves and forwards general mailbox messages to the appropriate personnel.
  • Retrieves patient’s medical records upon request of the patient, medical assistant or medical provider.
  • Schedules and reschedules all office appointments as appropriate with the structured pre-set templating rules.
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school graduate required. Associate degree preferred.
  • Comprehension of medical terminology.
  • Minimum one (1) year receptionist experience in an ambulatory surgery facility, acute-care hospital, or doctor’s office.
  • Preferred 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Must have experience using Computer and phone system.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Competency in oral and written skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
