Principal Associate, Project Manager - Product Operations: Governance & People Excellence

This role is within the Finance Product & Data Solutions organization which is an exciting space within the Finance organization where we are looking to fuel the future of Finance through unified innovation and optimization for a smarter, more successful tomorrow.

Primary Workstreams

As a Principal Associate Project Manager you will:

  • Contribute to the build out and operationalization of a comprehensive AI-powered learning strategy to build and scale core competencies across multiple product disciplines and accelerate new hire onboarding. Proactively manage and maintain the learning agenda over time to ensure it is up to date and relevant as needs rapidly change over time.

  • Manage top of house governance and OKR reporting activities for the Finance Product & Data Solutions organization

  • Maintain the online presence for the organization & support top of house communications

  • Work on medium to large-scale complex, cross-departmental projects that have a direct impact on the company, owning end-to-end project lifecycles, ensuring milestones are defined with alignment, and met.

  • Forge relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments

  • Identify ways to improve and streamline business process

Role Overview & Core Expectations

The Principal Associate Project Manager will bring a proven track record of project management and the organizational agility to adapt to changing demands. This role requires a professional with a consulting mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to quickly establish structure to manage complex work. Exceptional communication and partnership skills are essential to manage, inform, and influence outcomes across all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Project End-to-End Execution

  • Structure & Delivery: Quickly put structure in place to plan, manage, and execute cross-functional project plans from initial feasibility through implementation.

  • Outcome Management: Ensure project plans deliver on intent, maintaining strict alignment with defined scope, timelines, and budgets.

  • Documentation & Governance: Maintain flawless project documentation and host regular alignment meetings to track progress, assign critical action items, and report status to stakeholders.

Risk Mitigation & Problem Solving

  • Impact Management: Proactively identify project risks and manage complex upstream/downstream impacts across the organization.

  • Adaptive Problem Solving: Leverage strong analytical skills to mitigate roadblocks, navigate changing demands, and escalate issues when necessary.

Stakeholder Partnership & Collaboration

  • Consulting & Influence: Act as a strategic and tactical thought partner, using strong consulting skills to inform and influence outcomes across all organizational levels.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Foster a positive, collaborative "One Team" culture to align diverse stakeholder groups and drive successful project delivery.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 4 Years Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or MBA degree
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Cambridge, MA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Project Manager


McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Project Manager


Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Project Manager









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
