Traveling Assistant Project Manager โ€“ Mission Critical (Tenant Fit-Out)About the Opportunity

An established and nationally recognized general contractor is seeking a motivated Traveling Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of mission critical tenant fit-out projects throughout the Eastern and Midwestern United States. While project assignments may vary, the majority of work is located east of the Mississippi River.

This role is ideal for an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer looking to grow their career while supporting the interior fit-out phase of hyperscale data centers and other mission critical facilities. You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers and field leadership, helping coordinate complex MEP installations, white space construction, commissioning activities, and project closeout on some of the most technically advanced projects in the industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager with the successful execution of mission critical tenant fit-out projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
  • Assist with project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
  • Help manage subcontractor contracts, procurement activities, and material tracking.
  • Work closely with Superintendents and MEP trade partners to coordinate field activities and maintain project schedules.
  • Assist in coordinating the installation of critical mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage systems.
  • Support project scheduling, progress reporting, and milestone tracking.
  • Participate in owner meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and internal planning sessions.
  • Assist with commissioning documentation, integrated systems testing (IST), punch list management, and owner turnover activities.
  • Maintain organized project records and ensure timely communication between project stakeholders.
  • Support quality control, safety initiatives, and overall project execution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 1โ€“4 years of experience in commercial construction as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or similar role.
  • Experience with mission critical, data center, industrial, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, or other MEP-intensive commercial projects is preferred.
  • Exposure to tenant fit-out, interior construction, or complex MEP coordination is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Basic understanding of construction scheduling, contract administration, project controls, and cost management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for project assignments throughout the Eastern and Midwestern United States, with the majority of work occurring east of the Mississippi River.
