THIS OPPORTUNITY

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Project Manager for our Columbia, MD office. Be involved in projects with our Program Management and Construction Management Team in New Carrollton, MD and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.


YOUR IMPACT

Job Description:



  • This position will serve as supervising Project Manager responsible for construction administration and supervision of project staff performing project management, construction management, and construction engineering and inspection services.

  • Scheduling and managing subordinate staff for satisfactory project delivery and ensuring compliance with client policies and procedures related to Construction Management, and Construction Engineering and Inspection.

  • Preparation of monthly estimates, final estimates, and written and oral communication with contractors, inspection personnel, utility companies and the general public to ensure compliance with contract plans, standards, and specifications.

  • Person will be responsible for maintaining WSP's positive working relationships with the projects' client and its' stakeholders including government and private entities.


WHO YOU ARE

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar engineering field from an accredited university.

  • 10 years of related experience in major infrastructure construction projects either on project/construction management of railroads, transit, stations, highway, bridges, buildings, and maintenance facilities.

  • Professional Engineers license in the state of Maryland or the ability to obtain a license within one year of hire. (Certified Construction Manager is also considered in lieu of a PE license)

  • Experience in managing work scope, budgets and schedules.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Proven ability in successful delivery of construction projects including final estimate, schedule, and as-builts.

  • Read and understand all relevant construction contract documents to ensure all work performed is compliant.

  • Ability to efficiently lead weekly progress meetings, assemble meeting minutes, compile comments, and distribute minutes.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations - and OSHA industry standards.

  • Knowledge of contract administration to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the client specifications, standard drawings and policies

  • Experience in performing engineering analysis on complex contract administration issues, and the timely approval / denial of these issues using dispute management techniques.

  • Experience in supervising subordinate employees including engineers and inspection staff.

  • Customer service experience related to resolving problems that involve explaining engineering concepts to various customer groups.

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering alternative delivery contracts to clients


Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience serving in a Construction Manager, Resident Engineer, or similar lead role.

  • Experience on CMAR or alternate delivery method projects a plus.

  • Amtrak and Class I railroad experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and risk management.

  • Proven experience with construction contract administration, pay applications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.

  • Strong knowledge of construction contract administration, scheduling, cost control, and change management.

  • Proficiency with standard construction documentation and reporting tools (Microsoft Office, Primavera 6, Procore).

  • Safety training (roadway, highway, RWP, OSHA 10-hour, etc.)

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $134,700 - $181,900


WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
