Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Associate Engineer, Civil/Structural to join our team!

As an Associate Civil/Structural Engineer at Parsons, you will be in a developmental engineering role, working under the close guidance of senior engineers. You will apply basic engineering theories and techniques to support the design and delivery of infrastructure projects, gaining exposure to Parsons' procedures, tools, and multi-disciplinary project environments.

This role may be part of a structured rotational program, providing experience across areas such as Project Controls, Procurement, Construction Management, and multiple engineering disciplines. Some assignments will involve CAE (computer-aided engineering) and CAD (computer-aided design) applications.

This role is located in our Boston, MA office.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform engineering and design assignments using basic civil/structural engineering principles and fundamental theories learned in a bachelor's program.

  • Prepare or assist in preparing: Basic engineering calculations and analyses, Material quantity takeoffs and cost estimates, Field surveys and design layouts

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed requisitions for materials, services, and subcontracts.

  • Under guidance of a more senior engineer: Review supplier drawing submittals for technical compliance, Support technical bid evaluations and analyses

  • Assist in the preparation and issuance of: Specifications, Data sheets, Other construction and engineering documents

  • Provide technical input, markups, and coordination guidance to CAD Designers/Drafters working on the same project.

  • Support project documentation, engineering records, and quality processes as required.

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, or related discipline).

  • Typically 0+ years of related civil/structural or general engineering experience (internships or co-ops a plus).

  • Basic knowledge of engineering concepts in civil/structural or related fields.

  • Familiarity with CAD tools and common PC software packages used in engineering (e.g., AutoCAD/MicroStation/Revit, MS Office).

  • Ability to learn and apply engineering procedures, standards, and codes under supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail, with good organizational and documentation skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring

  • EIT/FE certification in progress or completed (or ability to obtain).

  • Exposure to CAE tools and structural analysis/design software (e.g., STAAD, SAP2000, ETABS, or similar).
