We are currently recruiting for a full-time Security Officer at our Christiana Hospital location. The hours the successful candidate will work either straight days or straight overnights including weekends/holidays as per a two week rotating schedule. The selected Officer will be responsible for patrolling our grounds in order to protect and maintain a safe and secure environment for our staff, patients and others that visit. The Officer will also conduct investigations related to incidents that occur on our property and respond to alarms, security incidents and enforce parking regulations.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To protect Christiana Care property and maintain an environment conducive to good health care. To protect patients, employees, and visitors by preserving peace or order.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Patrol Christiana Care premises on foot, bike or in vehicles both indoors and outdoors observing for trespassers, vandalism, theft, and alert to fire and safety hazards.
  • Conducts investigations of accidents and security related incidents and initiates appropriate follow-up action.
  • Responsible for the operation of weapon screening equipment at designated locations, including but not limited to, community and staff entrances.
  • Investigate and complete written reports in accordance with department policies for incidents/accident.
  • Responds to calls for service to include but not limited to Employees, Patients, Visitors, Alarm Systems, and other security related calls. Responsible to respond to Code Reds, unusual odors, hazardous material incidents and medical assists.
  • Responsible to respond to campus lockdown situations that may require the use of a Evolv/metal detector at the entrance(s).
  • Enforces ChristianaCare's Parking Policy and assists with traffic control on premises.
  • Offload and transport patients from helicopters to designated room.
  • Operates Law Enforcement Records Management System (LERMS), Access Control System, CCTV System, and other assigned Public Safety Department technology.
  • Assists visitors and employees to jump start vehicles, unlock vehicles when keys are locked inside, provide escort, along with other security related problems.
  • Works closely with law enforcement agencies of jurisdiction.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
Daily contact with patients, visitors, nurses, and daily ancillary department employees, and supervisors.
Frequent contact with outside law enforcement agencies, and Department of Corrections reference
prisoners.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
HS Diploma or GED equivalent. (Required)
Associate degree or higher in Criminal Justice or related field (Preferred).
Two years of experience in campus/hospital security, law enforcement, or another related field (Preferred).

Acceptable drivers record in good standing

Hourly Pay Range: $18.19 - $26.37
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
