POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Production Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, safety and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate will exercise their problem-solving and analytical skills, utilizing Lean methodologies in their daily operating rhythm, while collaborating on projects with the design, quality, supply chain and operations departments to ensure seamless production and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems. The Production Engineer will flex their strong communication skills when providing product application support to both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will operate with a high attention to detail, gathering and analyzing data to recommend product/process flows, and will act as a SME in this role for automation selection and implementation, as well as selecting design tools and fixtures. The Production Engineer will be diligent about staying updated with industry and Lean Manufacturing trends, best practices and emerging technologies to continuously enhance their skills and knowledge, while contributing to Solve’s continued growth and success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate and deliver Lean Transformational strategies and tactics; including projects in 6S, Model Cell development, pull systems, etc.
  • Design and refine production workspaces and process flows to support efficient, high-quality manufacturing operations
  • Design and optimize tooling, fixtures, and work instructions for production operations, while implementing Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency
  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, processes and equipment
  • Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity planning to balance workloads, and develop and maintain corresponding SOP’s and process documentation
  • Train and support operators, technicians and production associates in best practices to ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with suppliers/subcontractors to confirm product specifications, verify drawings, validate product quality and maintain effective production standards
  • Assist with quoting special projects and provide technical product expertise, calculations and support to customers and sales team
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and reliability
  • Facilitate and/or participate in transformational Kaizen events
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of industrial or manufacturing engineering experience working with discrete parts
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experienced with CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar) and ERP/MRP systems
  • Solid working knowledge of machining, assembly, automation and other manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949 or similar)
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) implementation experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with bearings, mechanical power transmission, and drive train products
  • Automated production process experience
