Candidates interested in this career should have excellent communication skills and prior experience in fast-paced, high-stress environments.

How does an associate producer typically collaborate with other departments during a production?

Associate Producers play a key role in bridging communication between creative, technical, and administrative teams. They often coordinate schedules, relay feedback from directors or producers, and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently. Key responsibilities

  • Plan, produce, and deliver compelling content across broadcast, streaming, and social media platforms.

  • Develop segments with a focus on live control room, social media optimization, and multi-platform engagement.

  • Collaborate with team members to produce news and sports specials, field produce major events, and manage high-profile projects.

Job description

Overview

Fox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full‑power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

Job Description

The news team at FOX 26 and FOX Local Houston is re‑imagining how local news is gathered and delivered. We no longer wait for appointed times to deliver content. We are a 24/7 streaming‑first news organization. As we continue to evolve, we’re hiring a Morning News Producer who thinks beyond the broadcast, builds for every platform, and understands that great journalism today must stop the scroll as much as it stops the remote. Our morning news block is consistently #1 in Houston and we intend to keep it that way on linear, streaming, and social. This is one of the most competitive news markets in the country. We need someone hungry enough to stay ahead of it everywhere our audience lives.

What You’ll Do

You’ll plan, produce, and deliver compelling content that works across broadcast, streaming platforms, and social media simultaneously. That means developing segments with a YouTube Shorts and a live control room mindset — sometimes in the same hour. You’ll be the creative engine behind our morning block, moving seamlessly from wall‑to‑wall breaking news and severe weather coverage to engaging studio segments, live guests, and shareable social moments. You’ll co‑own our digital footprint alongside our digital team, ensuring every segment, tease, and interview is cut, captioned, and optimized for the platform it lives on — whether that’s a 90‑second streaming segment, an Instagram Reel, or a full broadcast block. You’ll think about the TikTok clip before the show airs, not after. You’ll also bring genuine creative vision to what morning news can look like in 2026. That means pitching segments that are visually distinct, experimenting with new formats, and pushing the team to produce content that earns loyal followership — not just viewership. You’ll also have opportunities to produce news and sports specials, field produce major events and take on high‑profile special projects.

What We’re Looking For
  • A creative thinker who produces for audiences, not just airtime
  • Deep fluency on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X — and how content performs differently on each
  • Experience producing for or alongside a streaming platform
  • Mastery of the control room, with the flexibility to pivot live, fast, and confidently
  • Strong, concise writing for multiple formats: broadcast, digital, and social copy
  • Editing skills to support live, studio, and social‑first content
  • A collaborative spirit — you’ll work closely with anchors, the assignment desk, digital producers, and managers to keep FOX26 ahead of the story and ahead of the competition
Requirements

Minimum 2 years of producing experience in a medium or large market preferred. Bachelor’s degree required; journalism, communications, or a related field preferred. You must thrive under pressure, meet hard deadlines, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Familiarity with newsroom systems, graphics programs, and video editing software required. Houston is a year‑round severe weather and breaking news market. All newsroom staff must be available to work on‑site or in the field during high‑impact events and local emergencies.

Equal Opportunity Employer

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law.

Benefits

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $65,000.00–71,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for union‑represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
