Position Summary

The associate sales producer will support the regional producers in building service offerings with new and existing clients. In tandem with the account managers and producers, the associate producer will foster relationships in support of VGM Insurance. This role is a positive contributor with strong listening and communication skills and can relate to customers both over the phone and in person to make insurance easy to understand. This is a high-pressure, fast-paced position with the need for a high level of organizational skills.

Reporting Accountability: Regional Sales Producer

Working Location: VGM Headquarters in Waterloo, IA or Des Moines, Iowa office; In office required 4+ days per week.

Working Hours: Full-time; exempt

Key responsibilities

  • Support regional producers in marketing applicable coverages to prospective and current providers and networks across the U.S.
  • As necessary, renew insurance policies upon policy expiration dates; obtain information to determine coverage changes and/or requirements, determine premium charges, and bind coverage with our carrier partners.
  • Prepare and provide information to insureds using effective presentation skills through both verbal and written communications.
  • Building professional relationships by communicating with our insureds and meeting mutually desired objectives.
  • Follow up with prospects and insureds on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate new sales efforts within the division to achieve cross-selling opportunities and division goals.
  • Drive pipeline growth through disciplined prospecting, including cold calling, email campaigns, and social selling, consistently qualifying leads and converting them into sales-ready opportunities for the sales team.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Commercial Insurance License– if active license is not currently held upon employment, candidate is required to become licensed and pass all applicable exams (this will be supported by VGM).  
  • Tradeshow sales experience preferred.

Skills and competencies

  • Strong communication and people skills; client relationship focused.
  • Ability to work well in both individual and teamwork environments.
  • Adept at prioritizing work deadlines and time management.
  • Negotiation skill and finesse.

Physical Requirements

  • Sufficient use of a computer and phone for long periods of time. Phone and email communication required on a regular basis.
  • Using technology efficiently, such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment.
  • Regular overnight travel.
  • Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision.
  • Moving throughout the VGM facilities when needed.
