Job description

Field Operations Lead
PLP Company is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Field Operations Lead to support daily field operations from our Bethel Park, Pennsylvania office. This role is ideal for someone with pavement marking, road striping, or road construction experience who understands how field work gets done and can help keep crews, equipment, and schedules moving efficiently.
The Field Operations Lead will play a critical role in coordinating projects, dispatching crews, and supporting field execution across multiple job sites. This position offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and grow into a leadership role over time within a company that has been improving roadway safety across Pennsylvania for more than 60 years.  Experience with road construction, dispatching, and PennDOT requirements is strongly preferred.
Job Responsibilities  include, but are not limited to:
  • Schedule and dispatch crews, technicians, and equipment to job sites based on project needs and customer requirements.
  • Support daily operations and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Develop and maintain the master production schedule in partnership with the Operations Manager.
  • Assign field personnel to optimize workforce efficiency and meet project timelines.
  • Track equipment usage, location, and availability.
  • Prepare and distribute project documentation, plans, and instructions to field crews.
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing project communications to ensure timely execution.
  • Coordinate with the Fleet Manager regarding equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal teams and customer inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation for all project activities.
  • Review plans and anticipate material, equipment, and staffing needs.
  • Monitor work processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications.
  • Track customer requests, work performed, expenses, and dispatch data.
  • Maintain inventory levels of materials and supplies to meet production demands.
  • Assist with general administrative and operational support as needed.

Position Requirements
• Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, dispatch, or operations scheduling.
• Road construction or PennDOT experience strongly preferred.
• Pavement marking or road striping experience is a major plus.
• Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and anticipate field requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general computer systems.
• Familiarity with local and regional geography preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure and make timely, practical decisions.
• Self-starter with the ability to quickly process information and implement solutions.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
Education & Experience
• Associate degree preferred, or 5+ years of relevant field or operations experience.
• Prior experience supporting multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Background in road construction, pavement marking, or related heavy-civil work preferred.
