Job Description
GDI is currently seeking an inquisitive, self-motivated individual looking to expand their knowledge in international development nonprofit operations and compliance. The ideal candidate will be someone with 3+ years of experience (preferably in a nonprofit/international organization) and who is interested in broadening their nonprofit management skills related to social impact start-up organizations. In addition to a background in /familiarity with operations and management/compliance of international donor funding, candidates should possess a creative/collaborative approach to problem solving, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to balance planning with taking action.
The Senior Associate - Operations and Compliance provides support for the operations, accounting, and talent teams and ensures effective day-to-day operations, subcontracting and subaward management for GDI, its subsidiaries including GDI Solutions, and other incubated initiatives. This role will be responsible for managing a suite of operations and compliance activities and ensuring those activities uphold GDI's policies and procedures, donor requirements, and industry best practices. The position requires initiative and resourcefulness in creative problem solving, analyzing trends and patterns to propose new procedures, and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external team members and partners. Coordination across teams will be essential to keep the organization running smoothly. Like every position at GDI, staff are expected to exercise a high degree of autonomy and take on significant responsibility.
This position reports to the Associate Director - Operations and Special Projects.
Responsibilities
  • Provides high quality, timely operations and compliance support to GDI and GDI Solutions as well as fractional support to multiple incubated initiatives and/or fiscally-sponsored initiatives. This support may include the following activities:
    • Subcontracting, which includes reviewing procurement documentation, providing procurement and contract management guidance to staff and partners, drafting/negotiating contracts, ensuring contractor compliance with policies, procedures, and/or donor requirements, and maintaining proper files
    • Subawarding, which includes conducting pre-award risk assessments and other due diligence activities for subrecipients, tailoring agreements to level of risk and donor requirements, monitoring subaward progress and financial reporting, and closing out of subawards.
    • Prepares, files, and maintains registration and compliance documents
    • Deploys and guides staff and partners on how to follow policies/procedures, using reasonable discretion and with the support of the Finance & Operations team and their direct supervisor.
    • Donor and grant management, which includes:
      • Assists with donor due diligence activities on behalf of GDI, its initiatives, and subsidiaries
      • Actively tracks and fulfills donor reporting and compliance requirements
      • Implements, and monitors systems for tracking and storing procurement documentation, subcontracts, and deliverables
  • Supports GDI's business operations launch activities for incubated initiatives that are setting up an independent legal entity. Business operations launch includes liaising with the legal team responsible for registering the organization, developing organizational policies, working closely with the Accounting team to develop donor management and subcontract management systems and processes according to their policies, etc. The Senior Associate will work under the guidance of Operations Manager, Associate Director of Operations, and Chief Financial Officer.

Required Qualifications
  • An interest in learning new skills and a curious and entrepreneurial mindset
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent and a minimum of three years of progressive experience in a related position
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following:
  • Subcontracting, procurement, and subawards under prime agreements issued by the U.S. government, foreign governments, and/or private foundations,
  • Operations management in a nonprofit organization
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and manage client relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Razor-sharp problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skill and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proven aptitude to manage and juggle many competing priorities is essential

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $77,500-$85,000. GDI offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes employer contributions to health, dental, and vision insurance plans for employees and dependents and 401(k) matching contributions.
