We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Platform and Infrastructure Services (IS) team in the Air C2 (Command and Control) and Battlefield Sensors software department in Fullerton, California.
What you will do:
Be part of the IS team that adopts DevOps processes and other best industry practices to integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf platform products with existing and next-generation Command and Control systems to provide mission critical systems to our customers.
  • Responsible for supporting multiple programs and multiple platforms within our C2 software product line
  • Perform as an experienced individual contributor growing into the role of a technical subject matter expert, working as part of a high performing Integrated Product Team.
  • Responsibilities include COTS/FOSS installation, configuration, integration, and testing, automation of software builds and deployments, system performance tuning, system security and hardening, and limited technical mentoring and oversight.
  • There may be travel opportunities to sites across the United States and internationally to support system integration and test activities.
  • Able to take short term business trips (between 2 weeks to 2 months, depending on the circumstances) to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to interface with our customer and other RTX colleagues.
  • Work onsite in Fullerton, CA

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) AND a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with system deployment, automation/scripting and administration supporting mission critical systems on Windows or Linux.
  • Experience with the integration of COTS/FOSS products for enterprise software deployments such as the following:
    • Windows Server (Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, PowerShell, RDP, DNS, WSUS)
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (Kickstart, bash, ssh/scp, configuration / administration)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience in software development or system administration.
  • Experience with Cyber Security and System hardening
  • Enterprise IT System Architecture (multiple sites/datacenters/WAN backbone)
  • Microsoft certification, i.e., Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
  • RedHat / Linux certification, i.e., Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
  • Experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi / vCenter)
  • Cybersecurity certification, i.e., CISSP, CISA, Security+.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to produce and present technical documentation.
  • Experience working in a team-focused development environment, such as Agile/SCRUM.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
