The Workers Compensation Regulatory reporting organization within Actuarial Information Services is looking for a Business Analyst to join the team! This is a great opportunity to enter the world or insurance and learn from the ground up. The Business Analyst will have a mentor for their first year to train them on the daily responsibilities and basic requirements of the role.
Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes, plans, and implements basic systemic changes that are needed. Workers Compensation Regulatory Reporting tasks with guidance under the direction of a Team Lead
  • Learns and perform root cause analysis and be able to articulate any identified issues that requires assistance in resolving.
  • Works with internal and external partners to resolve issue relating to regulatory reporting
  • Independently interacts with customer to define business needs and solve routine problems
  • Researches, documents, communicate, and records data to support Business Consultants or Team Lead.
  • Supports delivery of statistical data to stat agents and regulators reporting bodies. This would include ADHOC request, distributional analysis and data inquiries.
  • Performs data analysis and data profiling on Workers Compensation premium and loss data with assistance from Business Consultants or Team Lead.
  • Provides recommendations and alternatives to problem resolutions
  • Possesses moderate business knowledge in assigned business area
  • Assists in maintaining data mapping documents and other data design artifacts that define business requirements and transformation rules related to Workers Compensation Line of Business
  • Understands the scope of the project and helps resolve scope questions and issues of complexity related to work related items.
  • Helps resolve scope questions and issues related to Workers Compensation statistical reporting

Qualifications:
  • Basic understanding of Workers Compensation
  • ORACLE SQL (Basic Knowledge)
  • Basic experience with business, technology or data
  • Experience using industry standard office tools like Microsoft office or Google docs
  • Communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal)
  • Interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Team player and be able to multi-task
  • Detail Oriented
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business preferred

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$54,000 - $81,000
