POSITION DESCRIPTION

Network Hardware Support Technician
Department: Information Technology | FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt | Employment Type: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY

The Network hardware Support Technician is responsible for providing onsite implementation, installation, and support of network infrastructure and hardware equipment at the customer location. This role focuses on deploying and maintaining UPS systems, network switches, surveillance cameras, structured cabling, and related infrastructure components.

The ideal candidate will possess strong hardware troubleshooting skills combined with foundational networking knowledge and the ability to work independently in a customer-facing environment. The engineer will collaborate with project teams, network engineers, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and operational readiness of IT infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Hardware Installation & Deployment

· Install, configure, and deploy UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems.

· Perform installation and implementation of network switches and associated hardware.

· Install and support surveillance cameras and related monitoring equipment.

· Perform rack-and-stack activities for network and infrastructure equipment.

· Execute structured cabling, cable management, and equipment labeling activities.

· Verify hardware functionality and connectivity after installation.

· Assist with relocation, replacement, and upgrades of infrastructure equipment.

Network Support Activities

· Support basic network configuration and connectivity verification.

· Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving switches, cabling, and endpoints.

· Assist remote engineering teams with onsite implementation activities.

· Support VLAN validation, port testing, and basic switch troubleshooting.

· Coordinate with network teams during infrastructure deployment projects.

· Ensure network hardware is installed according to customer standards and best practices.

Infrastructure Support

· Perform preventive maintenance on UPS systems and network hardware.

· Conduct routine equipment inspections and health checks.

· Assist with hardware replacement and warranty-related activities.

· Monitor infrastructure equipment and escalate issues when necessary.

· Maintain inventory records of deployed equipment and components.

Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain accurate installation and support documentation.

· Record project progress and provide status updates to stakeholders.

· Document configurations, serial numbers, asset information, and network diagrams.

· Ensure compliance with customer documentation standards and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

· Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, or a related field; OR

· Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant work experience

Experience

· 2+ years of experience supporting IT hardware and network infrastructure.

· Experience installing and troubleshooting switches, UPS systems, and network equipment.

· Experience performing onsite field support or infrastructure deployment activities.

· Experience working in customer-facing technical support environments.

Certifications (Preferred)

· CompTIA A+

· CompTIA Network+

· Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

· Work performed primarily at the customer site in Irvine, CA.

· Occasional after-hours or weekend support may be required based on project schedules.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE

· Hands-on Hardware Engineer with networking knowledge.

· Experience supporting enterprise network deployments.

· Familiarity with Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, or similar networking equipment.

· Experience working in field services, smart hands, or infrastructure support roles.

· Comfortable working directly from a customer location and interacting with business stakeholders.
