The Arlo Smart Home Device team is seeking an entry-level Hardware Engineer. We are looking for a new or recent EE graduate who is interested in a very hands-on position working within a team including more senior engineers. Someone interested in doing a very diverse set of tasks based on R&D project needs. You should be self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks at the same time under supervision of engineering colleagues. You should be comfortable with product testing, test scripting, and rework/cabling as needed. You should be able to report results and issues in a clear manner. The position is almost exclusively lab work in our office in Carlsbad, CA. This is a great opportunity for someone who likes to be hands-on and wants a chance to learn from the ground up.
Title: Hardware Engineer
Location: Carlsbad, CA
Contract: Fulltime/12-month Fixed Term
Tasks:
Participate in product testing within the Hardware team under engineering supervision. Testing includes manual bench testing and automated testing via test scripts. Tests will be diverse including verifying battery charging & discharging, EMI coexistence tests, audio tests, etc.
Generate clear test and data reports for engineering colleagues to review.
Support the Arlo R&D teams with prototype modifications, whether with cabling/wiring, SMT component replacement, PCB trace modifications, or modifications to mechanical parts.
Maintain the Hardware Engineering Lab in good working order, keeping it organized and maintaining equipment as needed, ordering supplies.
Key Qualifications:
Experience in performing measurements with bench top equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, power analyzers.
Experience in compiling test data reports using Excel or similar.
Experience with using test scripts such as Python.
Experience in interpreting schematics and board layout documentation as part of product testing.
Comfortable with fine pitch SMT soldering/rework and cabling
Education
BSEE or Associate Degree in Electronics
The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between USD$75,000-90,000/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience.
