Associate Engineering Manager information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Associate Engineering Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Associate Engineering Manager, you need a solid background in engineering principles, experience leading projects, and typically a relevant degree in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools (like Jira or Asana), version control systems (such as Git), and sometimes Agile certifications is highly valued. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help in motivating teams and managing stakeholder expectations. These skills and qualities are essential for ensuring project success, fostering team development, and delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.

What are the primary challenges faced by an Associate Engineering Manager when transitioning from an individual contributor role?

One of the main challenges Associate Engineering Managers encounter during this transition is balancing technical responsibilities with new leadership duties. Instead of focusing solely on coding or technical tasks, you will need to prioritize mentoring, project management, and facilitating team collaboration. This shift often requires developing strong communication skills and the ability to delegate effectively while still staying engaged with technical decisions. Navigating these changes successfully can set the foundation for further leadership opportunities.

How much should an engineering manager be paid?

The salary for an engineering manager typically ranges from $100,000 to $180,000 annually, depending on experience, industry, and location. Senior engineering managers or those in high-demand sectors may earn higher compensation, often including bonuses and stock options. Compensation also depends on the size of the company and the complexity of projects managed.

What are Associate Engineering Managers?

Associate Engineering Managers are early-career leaders who support engineering teams by overseeing projects, coordinating team members, and helping deliver technical solutions. They typically assist senior engineering managers by handling daily operations, tracking project progress, and facilitating communication between engineers and other departments. This role often serves as a stepping stone to higher management positions and requires both technical expertise and strong leadership skills.

What engineers make $500,000 a year?

Senior engineering roles such as Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or Engineering Director can reach or exceed $500,000 annually, especially in high-paying industries like technology, finance, or specialized fields. Job description

Are you eager to drive innovation and lead a team in mastering new technologies? Do you appreciate an empowering working environment where you and your team get a high level of decision-making authority, coupled with robust support? Can you lead a team to turn complex business requirements into excellent technical solutions leveraging Adobe technologies, and guide them in driving innovation on the most advanced CRM/marketing platforms? Then you might be just the one we are looking for!

What will your day look like?

As an Adobe Engineering Manager, you will be a key leader, guiding and inspiring a team of talented developers. You will own the technical architecture and delivery strategy for projects, proactively engaging with clients to define requirements, translating them into comprehensive technical specifications, and overseeing the development, deployment, and ongoing optimisation of robust Adobe marketing solutions.

Furthermore, your tasks include:

  • Leading the implementation of new features, bug fixes, and complex configurations across diverse Adobe environments.
  • Collaborating strategically with Architects and Technical Project Managers to define and approve technical specifications, ensure accurate estimates, and orchestrate strategic deployment plans.
  • Personally tackling the most complex technical investigations and troubleshooting issues, while empowering your team to resolve their own challenges.
  • Providing comprehensive mentorship, coaching, and performance management to your team (Associate and other Developers), fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous growth.
  • Ensuring the successful integration, testing, and deployment of client applications and platforms, applying rigorous quality assurance methods.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, especially within the Adobe ecosystem, to continually enhance our offerings and provide innovative solutions.
  • Contributing to the technical roadmap and resource allocation for your team's projects.
Who are you going to work with?

You will lead within an exciting and challenging professional environment, collaborating strategically with Architects, Application Consultants, Technical Project Managers, and other Developers (including Associate, Senior, and Lead levels), while managing and developing your own team. You will also foster cross-functional partnerships with Data Specialists and Designers outside of your department. Our common feature is that we all are competent, respectful teammates who you will inspire and empower to go the extra mile to help one another.

We value room for diversity, and you will get a chance to shape your daily tasks while leading your team's professional skillset development. We are proud of our multicultural environment and easy-going, dynamic atmosphere where we not only work together, we are great at having fun as well.

What do you bring to the table?
  • 8+ years of progressive Adobe development experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or mentorship capacity, ideally within an agency or consulting environment, with a strong focus on digital marketing solutions.
  • Deep architectural and hands-on expertise with Adobe Experience Cloud platforms, such as Adobe Campaign (ACC), Adobe Journey Optimiser (AJO), Adobe Target (AT), or Adobe Audience Manager (AAM), and their strategic application.
  • Strong proficiency in other programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and advanced API integrations. Bonus if you have experience in front-end and back-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL.
  • Relevant Adobe certifications such as Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) - Developer, Adobe Certified Master - Architect, or Adobe Experience Platform Developer Professional.
  • Proven experience with code versioning systems, automated integration testing, security testing, and secure coding practices, and driving these best practices within your team.
  • Deep understanding of data models, optimisation techniques, and GDPR principles, and their practical application in optimizing marketing strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (in English), with the ability to articulate strategic vision and technical roadmaps to diverse audiences, and influence client decisions.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a proven ability to mentor, inspire, and drive continuous improvement within a technical team.
