Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Supports the organization to create an engaging employee experience by implementing and administering human resources programs or policies. As the Human Resources Generalist, you will provide point-of-contact HR support in associate (employee) relations, recruiting/hiring, talent management, associate development, as well as administrative duties to support the HR and L&D team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conducts investigations, prepares investigative reports and makes recommendations to resolve employee issues based on policy, past practice and legal justifications. Keeps log of incidents, recognizes trends and provides recommendations for additional associate/manager/leader training needed based on trends.
  • Provide coaching on associate -related issues such as professional development, performance investigations and disciplinary action.
  • Recommend initiatives, policies, practices, and programs to meet management and associate needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of HR policies and procedures as well as local, state and federal labor laws.
  • Support the creation and administration of the talent management process, including tracking talent development, succession, individual development plans, and talent reviews
  • Provide support on HR systems (UKG) to associates related to general use and navigation
  • Supports Human Resources Leadership in the execution of strategic initiatives including compensation and benefits, associate engagement, talent management, recruiting/hiring training, and development.
  • Administer HR policies and programs in partnership with supervisors and managers and other HR staff.
  • Processes documents and forms necessary for the implementation of various Human Resources policies programs plan procedures and practices.
  • Support staffing needs by recruiting, hiring, and onboarding associates
  • Drive flawless execution of HR basics and support improvements and initiatives that move toward the company's HR vision
  • Coordination/planning for training classes and other various administrative duties as needed to support the department

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience required
  • HR Generalist with 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience supporting a Retail operation preferred
  • Experience with Ultimate/Kronos or other HRIS preferred

Competencies & Capabilities:
• Thorough knowledge of human resource principles and practices.
• Computer skills Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HR/Payroll systems
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and attention to detail skills are required.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain positive relationships at all levels while maintaining confidentiality
  • Strong initiative bias for action and a high sense of urgency
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills - verbal written & presentation; listening
  • Self-confidence; not afraid to actively voice an opinion

Work Environment:
  • Position is performed primarily in office environments.
  • Available for travel - when necessary to conduct investigations in stores or other office locations within the tri-state area.
