Description

Auria is a leading global supplier of highly-engineered systems for automotive flooring, acoustical, thermal, aerodynamic and other fiber-based solutions for gas and electric vehicles. With U.S.-based operational headquarters in Southfield, Michigan, Auria operates 16 manufacturing, 9 technical and 5 JV locations across 10 countries and employs approximately 3,900 people worldwide.

We are currently searching for Automation Controls Technician to join our team at our Spartanburg Plant in Spartanburg, SC.


What you will do:

  • Robotics & Automation: Troubleshoot and minor programming on industrial robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, YASKAWA) for water jets, foam fill, or material handling
  • PLC Programming: Modify and debug Programmable Logic Controller logic (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) to optimize automated cycle times.
  • Precision Mechanical Repair: Service/Troubleshoot pumps, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and water jet systems.
  • Sensors & Vision Systems: Calibrate proximity sensors, photoelectric eyes, limit switches, and camera-based quality inspection systems.
  • Rapid Breakdown Response: Execute emergency repairs under intense time constraints to maintain tight Just-In-Time (JIT) production schedules.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Diagnose mechanical and electrical breakdowns, read schematics, and use diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters) to identify root causes.
  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance (PM): Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, and part replacements to prevent equipment failure before it occurs
  • Electrical Work: Maintain, repair, and calibrate control systems, up to 480V systems, motors, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Mechanical Work: Repair or rebuild gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and bearings, and perform light welding, machining, and pipefitting as needed
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, ARC flash safety, and all OSHA or EPA regulations
  • Documentation: Log completed tasks, part usage, and equipment status using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or an ERP program like “Plex”

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and frequently kneel, crouch, or climb in varying facility temperatures.
  • Availability to work rotating shifts
  • Must be able to fully comply with all applicable safety requirements and policies

Preferred Automotive Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years in a Tier 1 automotive supplier or OEM vehicle assembly plant.
  • Specialized Training: Certifications in robotics, advanced PLC troubleshooting, or Mechatronics.
