Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical Engineer opportunity in Johnson City, TN.
Position Overview:
We're seeking an Electrical Engineer to support a new facility design project with a strong emphasis on conceptual design, power distribution, and the development of electrical distribution systems from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop conceptual electrical designs including load analysis and system architecture.
  • Design power distribution systems-medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV)-including switchgear, transformers, panelboards, grounding, and protective devices.
  • Create distribution system layouts from scratch, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Produce detailed diagrams, equipment specifications, and system calculations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, civil, architectural, controls) to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Lead or support design reviews, risk assessments, and constructability evaluations.
  • Ensure all designs comply with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and client-specific standards.
  • Support project planning, cost estimation, and schedule development related to electrical scope.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with a strong focus on power distribution and system development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, including system modeling and protective device coordination.
  • Proven ability to develop electrical distribution systems from concept through detailed design.
