Job description

RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking a growth-oriented candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility in Dubuque, IA.

    Electrical and Software Test Engineer

    This position is associated with testing of electrical systems and software that control vehicle operation and functions for next generation machines. Testing methods include diagnostic troubleshooting, automated software testing, and full or partial machine testing. This role requires a combination of hardware and software expertise to ensure test systems meet current product requirements and are ready for production builds. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with experience working across both software and hardware systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Update and maintain end-of-line test systems to support new product requirements.
    • Modify and improve test software as products and testing needs evolve.
    • Remove outdated code and test functions that are no longer required.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure all required tests are included in production test systems.
    • Attend design reviews and project meetings to understand upcoming testing requirements.
    • Create and coordinate work orders for test stand, fixture, and harness updates.
    • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on production test equipment.
    • Support implementation and validation of updated test systems after production builds.
    • Document test procedures, software changes, and system updates.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
    • Experience with both software development and hardware integration.
    • Programming experience in languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, or similar.
    • Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, or electronic test equipment.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
