As a Location General Manager Trainee, you will embark on a leadership development journey designed to prepare you for ultimate responsibility over one or more CarMax store locations. Role Responsibilities

  • Lead total store operations, focusing on associate development, profitability, and customer satisfaction while managing budgets and sales processes.
  • Analyze business trends and reports to identify opportunities and champion process improvements and company initiatives that enhance customer and associate experiences
  • Manage financial performance through effective P&L oversight, cost control, and attentive protection of company assets.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and promote associates, fostering a culture of growth and engagement.
  • Drive associate development and engagement through feedback, performance reviews, and career planning.
  • Collaborate with senior management to set store strategy and provide vision, direction, and motivation for success.
  • Responsible for CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements for your department and/or location, including workplace safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing critical business needs.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with associates and customers across departments.
  • Proficiency in data interpretation and record accuracy for operational compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent business decisions and identify improvement opportunities.
  • 5+ years of management experience, with intermediate PC skills and completion of CarMax-provided training.
  • Flexibility to work rotating schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including inclement weather, and maintain professional appearance in CarMax attire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail management experience and a Bachelor's Degree are preferred.
