What They Do: ย Our client is a leading manufacturer of Specialty Coatings and Chemicals for the Printing and Packaging industries, as well as one of the largest suppliers of inks and coatings in North America.

THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Associate Chemistย for their East Providence, RI location. This entry level member of the laboratory team will have the responsibility to support all relevant test work for product applications and verification of current formulations, as well as some formulation of products within their chemistry group/Business line for our client. The Chemical Technician I/II position will examine chemical compounds and/or formulations to support product quality, cost savings, reduction of waste and validating end use expectations put forth by and for our customers.

This role is onsite in East Providence, RI.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Organize and maintain records, data files, i.e. lab notebooks, project files, raw material, equipment, and product information etc.
  • Support formulation and testing as necessary for successful completion of lab project work.
  • Develop a working knowledge of available physical testing equipment that supports application type projects.
  • Investigate and develop working methods and procedures, equipment and instrumentation required for application, research, or process control.
  • Prepare chemical mixtures for use in processing materials, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
  • Document and record test results for various raw materials and finished goods using various computer software systems and handwritten on paper.
  • Generate regular status reports on ongoing projects.
  • Analyze test data using various computer software programs.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Associates degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related science
  • In Lieu of Associates degree, 3+ yearsโ€™ experience in a directly related field, ideally within the coatings Industry.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills including the ability to read and properly interpret information, follow safety procedures, and present to large and small groups.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Some knowledge & proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to be very detail oriented and accurate in both written and verbal communications.
  • This position requires frequent standing and walking in a laboratory environment.

The compensation for this role is 50k-60k + 5% Bonus.
