We envision a world where every person has the opportunity to achieve their optimal health and we're here to support that journey with personalized, culturally competent care and knowledge.
The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for turning WHA's clinical and operational data into clear, actionable reporting that supports better decision-making across the organization. This position is full-time exempt, Monday - Friday.
DUTIES:
  • Epic Data Warehouse & SQL:
    • Use SQL to query the Epic data warehouse (Clarity and/or Caboodle) to extract, explore, and validate clinical and operational data for reporting purposes.
    • Develop a working understanding of the Epic data model, including key clinical and revenue cycle tables, to independently identify and pull the right data for each reporting need.
    • Identify and resolve data quality issues within the Epic data warehouse, working with clinical and administrative stakeholders to design and implement solutions.
    • Collaborate with Business Intelligence Developers on complex data extracts, warehouse structure questions, and upstream data issues that affect report accuracy.

    • Develop, publish, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that serve clinical, operational, and leadership audiences across WHA.
    • QA reports thoroughly before deployment - validating data against source systems, testing edge cases, and incorporating feedback from end users.
    • Build and maintain documentation for all reporting solutions, including data sources, model logic, and user guidance for training and ongoing support.
  • Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Lead requirements-gathering sessions with clinicians, leaders, and staff to understand reporting needs, define scope, and document clear, actionable specifications.
    • Translate clinical and business requirements into technical specifications that can be built in Power BI and sourced from the Epic data warehouse.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations throughout the reporting development cycle, providing regular updates and incorporating feedback iteratively.
    • Advocate for data-supported decision-making across WHA, helping staff and leadership understand and trust the data in their reports.
    • Collaborate with the Sr. Clinical Applications Manager to evaluate and recommend reporting and business intelligence tools and enhancements

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration or Informatics, or the equivalent combination of classroom and/or job-related experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a business analyst, data analyst, or BI developer role with hands-on reporting responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries against a relational database or data warehouse in a professional setting.
  • Hands-on experience building reports and semantic data models in Power BI, including DAX and data source connectivity.
  • Experience gathering and documenting reporting or analytics requirements directly from business or clinical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with a healthcare data warehouse or EHR reporting environment or experience mastering a new data model and building on that knowledge.
  • Experience documenting and obtaining requirements for reporting projects.
