What you do:
The candidate will assist the Managing Associate General Counsel supporting fixed indexed annuities, life insurance products and employer markets products. The candidate will be providing support with respect to all phases of product development for fixed annuities, life insurance and employer markets products, including legal review of contracts and policies, disclosure documents, advertising and marketing materials, customer communications, administrative forms, and training modules. The candidate will also provide legal support, as needed, for product administration, compliance, and research of state and federal laws and regulations applicable to the product lines. The candidate must possess strong communication, legal research, and analytical skills and thorough attention to detail needed to support attorneys with legal tasks. The position requires collaboration with internal and external business partners and attorneys to coordinate and perform tasks proficiently with limited guidance.
Working with, and under the supervision of the Managing Associate General Counsel:
- Provide legal review and analysis of contracts, advertising, sales literature, customer communications and field communications related to annuity and life insurance products
- Produce accurate, high quality work product with the ability to closely manage multiple matters and process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with a high attention to detail
- Maintain proficiency with company technology, including software, databases, and AI tools
- Establish, develop and manage effective working relationships at all levels of the organization and act as a liaison with internal and external business partners and attorneys
- Ability to demonstrate organizational skills, including the ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision
- Proven ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize and manage all matters and assigned tasks. Specific
duties include, with minimal supervision, coordinating the collection of relevant information from various stakeholders, and review and advise on regulatory filings
- Assist with implementation of identified process improvements and best practices
- Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI).
What you bring:
  • 2-3 years of experience required within a Law firm, Governmental or Administrative Agency and/or Insurance or Financial Services company
  • Juris Doctor from ABA accredited law school; currently licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota, or obtain a Minnesota license within six months of hiring
  • Knowledge of state insurance laws and regulations applicable to annuities and life insurance.
  • Experience with annuity and life insurance product development, including responsibility for contract and policy drafting
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of legal research and the ability to interpret legal requirements, such as interpreting and understanding state insurance laws and regulations, examining and processing a variety of legal and business documents
  • Curious and willing to learn new subject areas, demonstrates good time management, deadline-driven, and has good attention to detail
  • Proficient with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and AI tools
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes holders of H-1B, H4, L-1, L-2, TN, OPT, CPT, and other nonimmigrant visas.

Job posting range $100,000-150,500
Note the job posting range is exclusive of company benefits or other compensation. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive program. If you are hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, competencies, and/or education. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
