What you'll do:
Coordinator
  • Coordinate work activities of others within work group, team or those external to the company including contractors and vendors as required to resolve routine technical tasks and field work activities.
  • Perform varied assignments demonstrating technical knowledge and analytical techniques to solve problems or analysis.
  • Participate in the planning and organization of outage/project work activities.
  • Make decisions and contribute to team decision making and consensus building.
  • Monitor labor relation activities; develop and maintain rapport to assure cooperation and productive working relationships with contractors.
  • Work with others in both supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary.
  • Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees as appropriate.
  • Pursue effective ways to protect and enhance the environment while providing reliable electricity at a competitive cost.

Coordinator Senior
  • Coordinates work activities of others within the work group, team or those located externally to AEP including contractors, vendors as required to resolve routine technical tasks and field work activities.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines. Monitors Work and Asset Management to ensure that work is performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to work beyond routine assignments by solving moderately complex problems. Works independently in resolving complex problems.
  • Participates in providing training, performance improvements for projects and activities of lower level employees or peers.
  • Develops and maintains rapport to assure cooperation and productive working relationships with customers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work beyond routine assignments by solving problems of moderate complexity.
  • Effectively manages conflict and builds consensus for agreement concerning business and/or work issues.
  • Clearly and concisely develops and presents or reviews reports with customers as needed.
  • Initiates, leads and facilitates meetings effectively.
  • Provides input to routine project planning and schedule. Understands the use of scheduling techniques for budget and planning activities. Assist in the planning of outages/projects/assignments.
  • Participates in AEP and associated contractor's meetings covering outage/project schedule, safety issues and operations and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assists in evaluating contracting methods, reviewing drawings and preparing basic cost estimates using established standards.
  • Monitors work according to schedule and recommend necessary actions.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; OR
  • Associate's technical degree and 3 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment; OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.

Work Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.
Coordinator Senior
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; OR
  • Associate's technical degree and 6 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment; OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.

Work Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.

  • Ability to interface and work well with different levels of individual contributors and management is required.
  • Experience in business unit operations and business acumen strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of business unit financial and operations systems and databases preferred.
  • Is proactive in responsibilities and does not wait for direction from management to conduct work.
  • Must be available to work overtime, call-out overtime and shift work, as required. Travel requirements are expected > 50 % of the time Physical demand level is Sedentary

  • Position requires working outside in all types of weather and exposure to hazardous materials.
