Job description

⚡ Senior Electrical Controls Engineer

Design it. Program it. See it run.

Tired of repetitive work and projects that never leave your screen?

At PowerBuilt, you’ll work on custom automation systems from concept through startup—and actually see your work come to life on the floor.

???? Why PowerBuilt?

We’re not your typical engineering environment:

  • ???? Jeans every day – casual, laid-back office culture
  • ⚙️ Hands-on involvement – work directly with equipment, not just design
  • ✈️ ~10–20% travel across the U.S. – and we handle all booking for you
  • ???? Company-paid travel – no out-of-pocket hassle
  • ???? Stable & growing – we’ve never had layoffs and are approaching 100 employees
  • ???? Major investments in our manufacturing facility
  • ???? In-house fabrication shop – full turnkey solutions under one roof
  • ???? Work on exciting tech – robotics, AGVs, AMRs, conveyance, and controls
  • ???? Flexible schedule + ability to work from home as needed

???? What You’ll Do

As a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer, you’ll take ownership of projects and help lead them from design through execution.

You’ll:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Lead electrical controls efforts across projects of all sizes
  • Design electrical control systems and panels
  • Program PLCs, HMIs, and robots across multiple platforms
  • Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and quality
  • Support startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting (remote and onsite)
  • Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and installation teams
  • Provide support on systems designed by others

???? What We’re Looking For
  • 6+ years of electrical controls design experience
  • 2+ years of project leadership or management experience
  • Strong PLC/HMI/robot programming experience
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, UL508A, and OSHA
  • Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a factory/job shop environment
  • Willingness to travel ~10-20% (primarily U.S.)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering OR
  • Associate’s degree with 4+ years of manufacturing experience

???? Location
  • Bellefontaine, OH (preferred)
  • or Dublin, OH

???? Why This Role?

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants:

  • To lead and make an impact—not just execute tasks
  • To work on custom, non-repetitive automation projects
  • To be part of a growing, stable company with real investment
  • To collaborate with a team that actually builds what you design

At PowerBuilt, you don’t just design systems—you help bring them to life.

PowerBuilt is an equal opportunity employer.
