Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Co-op

Department: Engineering

FLSA Status: Hourly

Reports to: Engineering Supervisor/Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Mechanical Engineer Co-op function is to provide support to the Engineering department for the manufacture and assembly of automated machinery, die sets and related press equipment. Accuracy, flexibility, and efficiency are important.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • The individual must possess strong communication skills, efficient work habits and be self-motivated to succeed in an environment where engineering cost and schedules must be minimized for the company to be successful.
  • Design of automated machinery and/or tooling.
  • Produce complete assembly and detail drawings.
  • Review/Check engineering work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
  • Maintain project related documents, records, and files.
  • Provide technical assistance to Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, Manufacturing, QA and Assembly as needed.
  • Construct Bills of Material (BOMs) through ERP and/or PDM systems.
  • Input and release of engineered components and assemblies to purchasing/planning via ERP software.
  • Perform drawing/document revisions and/or Engineering Change Requests (ECR).
  • Assist in creation and updates of machine manuals.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Current Engineering student seeking a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2D and 3D CAD experience (preferably Autocadand Solidworks).
  • Experience with Outlook, Word, Excel.
