The role of the controls engineer intern is to assist experienced engineers with design projects, designing code, electrical drawings, programming and integration of automated systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
• Support control system development for custom automation equipment, including PLC and PC-based systems, under guidance from senior engineers
• Assist with troubleshooting electrical and control-related issues during system build and testing phases
• Gain hands-on exposure to automation technologies such as PLCs, HMIs, robots, vision systems, and databases.
• Participate with project and CAPEX teams to learn how customer-specific automation solutions are designed and deployed.
• Learn and follow ATS controls standards, including both new and legacy platforms.
• Help document hardware / software activities, including contributing to technical documentation.
• Work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism and accountability in assigned tasks

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
• The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
• Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
• Visual Acuity - Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens
• Hearing Ability - Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
• Working Conditions - The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting manufacturing floor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in electrical, controls, computer engineering or equivalent.
• Foundational knowledge of controls / electrical engineering principles.
• Demonstrates good communication and problem-solving skills.
