What is an associate controller?

Associate Controllers are finance professionals who support the Controller of an organization in managing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance. They assist with preparing financial statements, overseeing internal controls, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulations. Associate Controllers may also supervise accounting staff, help with audits, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes. This role is often considered a step toward more senior finance leadership positions within a company.

How does an associate controller typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

An Associate Controller often works closely with various departments such as operations, HR, and IT to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. They may coordinate budget preparation sessions, clarify spending policies, and help interpret financial data for non-financial managers. Regular interaction with department heads is common, as the Associate Controller provides guidance on financial procedures and helps resolve discrepancies. This cross-functional collaboration is essential for maintaining strong internal controls and supporting organizational goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an associate controller, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Associate Controller, you need a robust understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance, generally backed by a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and often a CPA certification. Expertise in ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, advanced Excel skills, and knowledge of GAAP or IFRS standards are commonly required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, leadership, and effective communication help drive accuracy and collaboration across teams. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring reliable financial operations, regulatory compliance, and sound decision-making within an organization.

Is an associate controller a high level position?

An associate controller is a mid-level management position within the accounting and finance department, often responsible for assisting the controller with financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. While it is a step above entry-level roles, it is generally considered below senior executive positions like controller or CFO.

Have Manufacturing Experience and a Good Eye for Detail?

We're hiring two Manufacturing Associates for immediate openings performing detailed work with small precision parts.

These positions are ideal for individuals who have previous manufacturing experience and are comfortable working with small components. Experience with deburring, inspection, precision assembly, or microscope work is especially helpful.

You'll work in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment where accuracy, quality, and attention to detail are important.
Convenient commute from Old Saybrook, Essex, Deep River, Chester, Westbrook, Clinton, Killingworth, Old Lyme, East Haddam, Haddam, Madison, Niantic, and surrounding Connecticut shoreline communities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Remove burrs and minor imperfections from components
  • Inspect small parts for quality
  • Perform detailed work under a microscope
  • Handle and work with small components throughout the day
  • Perform small parts assembly as needed
What We're Looking For
  • Previous manufacturing or microscope experience required
  • Experience working with small parts or precision components
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

  • Small parts manufacturing
  • Quality inspection
  • Microscope inspection
  • Precision assembly
  • Electronics assembly
  • Medical device manufacturing
  • Machining or machine shop environments
  • Other detailed manufacturing work involving small components
Microscope experience doesn't have to come specifically from manufacturing. If you've used a microscope or magnification equipment in a laboratory, medical, electronics, quality, or other professional setting, we'd like to hear about it.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • $19.00 per hour
  • Immediate 1st shift openings
  • Monday–Friday schedule
  • Overtime available
  • Clean, climate-controlled facility
  • Hands-on precision manufacturing work
  • Opportunity to expand your inspection and manufacturing skills
Our goal is to make the right match—for both you and the client. You'll begin your employment with A.R. Mazzotta while working onsite with our client, and when it's a great fit for both, there may be an opportunity to join the client's team permanently.
