Senior Associate, Compensation Analyst
We are excited to announce an opening for a talented Senior Associate to join our Compensation Pay Design and Market Intelligence team. In this position, you will be tasked with performing compensation analysis on essential initiatives, including semi-annual compensation cycles, job benchmarking against market standards, and collaborating with enterprise business leaders on diverse compensation initiatives. The perfect candidate for this role will demonstrate robust analytical abilities, problem-solving expertise, effective communication, and strong influencing skills.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a team of compensation analysts to enhance compensation analytics by implementing automation and refining processes
  • Perform deep analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and model potential impact of alternatives
  • Conduct benchmarking and market analysis to determine if pay is appropriately aligned to the external market
  • Research and formulate recommendations for enterprise compensation approaches and design
  • Support mid-year and year-end compensation cycles through Workday testing, budget reporting, and researching unique cases
  • Conduct compensation analysis on large, cross functional projects across businesses and countries
  • Support and advance our Compensation Market Intelligence function by managing benchmarking tools, vendor relationships, and evaluating cutting edge data products and technologies

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in Compensation, or at least 1 year of experience in Finance, or at least 1 year of experience in Analytics, or a combination
  • At least 1 year of experience in Excel or Google Sheets

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Statistics, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Human Resources
  • 2+ years of experience in Compensation, or 2+ years of experience in Finance, or 2+ years of experience in Analytics, or a combination
  • 2+ years of experience in a client consulting
  • 2+ years of experience with Excel and developing data-based stories in PowerPoint or Google Slides
  • 1+ year of experience with Workday or Workday Advanced Compensation module
  • 1+ year of experience in SQL
  • 1+ year of experience in Python
  • 1+ year of experience with agile delivery
  • Advanced excel skills (e.g., VBA, macros, array functions)
  • Experience with benchmarking tools (MarketPay) or reporting tools (Tableau, Business Objects)
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $111,200 - $126,900 for Sr. Assoc., Compensation
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
